Leadership Through Laughter

This Friday & Saturday, October 23-24, there will be three workshops entitled Leadership Through Laughter at Dickinson State University. The workshops will be led by Peggy Eserkaln along with two of her colleagues, Angie Fralish & Morgan Fisher.

The workshops will use improvisational games & activities to teach. They will teach fundamental principles of collaboration and conflict resolution as well as leadership. The first workshop will be held Friday from 8:30 am to 12 Noon, the second from 1:00 to 4:30 pm, and the third on Saturday, from 9:00 to 12 Noon. All workshops will be held in the Student Center Ballroom of DSU Campus. The workshops are free for DSU students, faculty, and staff.

CulturePulse on Thursday

CulturePulse tutorials will be held in Dickinson this Thursday, October 22. There will be two sessions, one from noon-1:30 pm and one from 5:15-6:45 pm.

At this event you will learn how you can maximize exposure for your cultural, literary, and fine and performing arts events through the CulturePulse Web site. The tutorial and Web site are FREE for anyone to use. At the tutorial you can even add any event information you have to the Southwest ND CulturePulse.org site. You can bring your own laptop for hands on experience or you can just come and watch the demonstration on a screen.

Talks of statewide Entrepreneurship Association

Discussions of an entrepreneurship association across North Dakota have begun. University of North Dakota’s Center for Innovation (Grand Forks), North Dakota State University’s Research Technology Park (Fargo), I.D.E.A. Center (Bismarck), Southern Valley Innovation Center (Wahpeton), and the Strom Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Dickinson) recently held a meeting to converse about the possibility of a statewide entrepreneurship association. Plans are vague but the initial planning stages have begun.

Strom Center and Innovate ND Team Up to Host Entrepreneurial Event

ND Dept of Commerce’s Innovate ND, a statewide business venture competition, and the Strom Center’s Community Development Project have combined forces to celebrate entrepreneurship on October 20 and 21st, 2009.

On October 20, the Community Field Day will feature entrepreneurial success stories from Jonathan Anderson—director of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Entrepreneurial Center, Keith Olson—SBDC Business Development Specialist and representation of Built4Sale Business Succession Planning Model, and Deb Frank—Innovate ND Finalist and Creator of KohlWaters. These stories will demonstrate the range and diversity of direction that entrepreneurship has in North Dakota. See attached flyer for more info on day, time, event.

The very next day, on October 21, Innovate ND is hosting a Statewide Day of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This day will link Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Dickinson, Minot and Williston, through technology, to share the message of entrepreneurship and info about this year’s Innovate ND program. This networking opportunity is essential for those with business ideas, interested in launching a business or in entering the competition. This day will be from 8am-1pm MST at DSU Campus.

Register for both or one event at www.dickinsonstate.edu/FieldDay to attend the Innovate ND Statewide Day of Innovation Kick Off for $50.00. However, if you attend the Community Field Day at the cost of $20.00, you can attend the Innovate ND Kick Off for free! And RIGHT now if you register before October 9th, you are eligible for the Early Bird Special of $10.00.

This is a great opportunity to see what is Entrepreneurs are doing and WILL be doing in North Dakota!

SAHRA Celebrating Ten Years

The Southwest Area Human Resource Association (SAHRA) is now ten years old. To celebrate this milestone there will be a luncheon tomorrow, Thursday, October 8 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. This luncheon/regular business meeting will be held at the Elks Lodge in Dickinson. For $6 there will be all-you-can-eat pizza, beverage, & birthday cake.
