There will be a free Dale Carnegie Training on October 8, 2009 in Dickinson, ND at the Elks Lodge #1137 (501 Elks Drive) beginning at 1:30 pm MDT. The 2-hour event, Global Re-Engagement Day, is for owners, CEOs, COOs, VPs, and HR executives. It is meant to help: restore the confidence needed to move forward in these difficult times, overcome paralysis caused by economic anxiety, and re-engage an refocus employees on the success today and growth tomorrow.

Sacred Heart Monastery’s Annual Celebrate the West Fundraiser will be held this Saturday, September 26, 2009. The theme is “It Only Takes A Spark!” The event will be held at the Elks Lodge in Dickinson, ND. There will be food and a live auction. Food stations and basket viewing will begin at 5:30 with the live auction to follow at 7:30 pm. To reserve a spot at this year’s annual fundraiser, please call (701) 974-2121.

Economic Recovery: What North Dakotans Need to Know

Economic Recovery Regional Forum for Employers, Child Care Providers, Economic Developers, and local Community Development Volunteers. The Forum will take place this Friday, September 25, 2009, at the State Capitol Building in Bismarck (in the Brynhild Haugland Room). The event will be from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm Central Time. The cost to attend is $15 which will cover lunch and refreshments (make check payable to: CTB, PO Box 2535, Bismarck ND 58502).
You will learn how to apply for ND’s new Childcare Grant and Loan programs and how individuals/organizations can access Economic Stimulus money. A panel of federal agency representatives will explain how Economic Stimulus dollars could be used to fund your local projects.
The forum is offered by the US Department of Labor-Women’s Bureau together with:
• ND Department of Commerce-Division of Community Services
• Center for Technology & Business (CTB)
• ND Rural Development Council

Julie Raatz
Julie Raatz joined the Strom Center staff as an Administrative Secretary for the Community Development Project (CDP) Coordinator on September 8, 2009. She will also be working with COCO (Coalition of Charitable Organizations).
Julie is a native of Dickinson. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Legal Office Administration from DSU, graduating with distinction, and she also earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology from DSU, graduating Cum Laude. Julie brings 15 years of previous work experience in office administration in both private and state offices to the Strom Center. Julie has been married to her husband, Don, for 13 years. They have two children, Austin and Sierra.
