Vote for Dickinson to get new baseball diamonds

It’s not too late to vote for Dickinson to get new baseball diamonds! The ‘Building Diamonds and Dreams’ program began April 5 and ends on July 16. You can vote every day until the 16th by visiting the Chevy Baseball website. All you have to do is enter our zip code (58601) and a little bit of information about yourself. Right now Dickinson is within the Top 5 to win for our region! Don’t forget to encourage others to participate to help our odds of winning!

Tornado Anniversary Celebration Tonight

The Southside Survivors in partnership with the City of Dickinson will be hosting a celebration to thank the volunteers and businesses for all of the help received following the July 8th, 2009 tornado. The Southside Survivors Appreciation Picnic will be held tonight, July 8th, 2010 at the Eagles Park.

The schedule of events is as follows:
• 5:20pm – Presentations by Governor Hoeven, Adjutant General Sprynczynatyk, State Forrester Kotchman, and City of Dickinson Mayor Mr. Dennis Johnson.
• 6:00pm – Ceremonial Tree Planting
• 6:15pm – Meal Service Begins
• 7:45pm – “Pass the Mic”
• 8:07pm – Balloon Release
• 8:15pm – 10:30pm – Music provided by Stagecoach Jukebox

A “Remembrance Shelter” will be available to view before and after pictures of the tornado, sign a Thank You card for Volunteers, and a donation box will be available to defray expenses of the event.

Tax deductible contributions can be made to Arts on the Prairie (memo: “Tornado”), 615 West Broadway, Dickinson ND 58601 or dropped off at the Music Mart in the Prairie Hills Mall.

All contributions will be used to pay the expenses to hold this celebration. Any donated money left over will go to the Dickinson Urban Forestry Committee, Stark County Red Cross, and/or the United Way of Dickinson.

The Stalled Campaign Audio Conference

Reserve Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. for ‘The Stalled Campaign’ audio conference to be held here at the Strom Center in Dickinson.

COCO (Coalition of Charitable Organizations) will be holding educational opportunities via audio conference for non-profit training. This audio will be presented by Julia Ingraham Walker. The sponsor for the event is Dickinson Catholic Schools. COCO’s educational opportunities are free to COCO members, $25 for non-members.

Taste Testing Open House

NR Catering will be holding a Taste Testing Open House on June 9, 2010. The open house is being held to celebrate NR Catering’s third year in business. Grant Writing 101 in Williston

Looking to fund your business or organization but don’t know where to start? Sign up for Grant Writing 101 on Tuesday, June 1st from 8:30 to 5 in room 106 of Stevens Hall on the campus of Williston State College.

Learn how to find, apply for, and administer grants. Presenters will include DLN consulting, the Small Business Development Center and Dickinson State University’s Strom Center. The $150 registration fee includes the full-day conference, lunch, great resources, and follow-up support.

There is also a 15% NDANO, AFP, student, or COCO member discount.

Help URL Radio “Rock the River” for charity this May!

Join us May 15 from 7–9pm as we enjoy a fabulous evening on the Lewis & Clark Riverboat.

We’ll have Ben Suchy on the upper deck and Wild Trivia (www.wildinspire.com/trivia) on the lower deck. Dinner will be served on board along with drinks from Maple River Distillery.
